Senapati sentisized on ill effects of deforestation

A one day Interaction and Consultative Workshop for Preparation of State Action Plan on Climate Change was held at the Conference hall of Senapati District Women's Association at Senapati Head Quarters today.
The workshop, which was organized jointly by Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) and Directorate of Environment and Ecology Wing, Government of Manipur, was graced by PK Jha, Deputy Commissioner of Senapati as Chief Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, PK Jha observed that deforestation is one of the most important factors responsible for drastic climate change all over the world.
This is a matter of grave importance.
In Manipur as well, a large number of trees are being down in the forest, thus giving a serious impact on the climatic condition of the state.
It is indeed a good sign that the government is coming up with an Action Plan to combat climate change and we all need to support the move for a better tomorrow, PK Jha exhorted, adding that the people should be made aware of impact of deforestation.
Superintendent of Police, Senapati, Pushanjali, who was also present on the occasion, similarly highlighted the ill effects of deforestation and jhum cultivation.
Dr Brajakumar, Research Officer of Directorate of Environment; Dr Sanamacha, Microbiologist of Directorate of Environment; Dr Hanibullah and members of Nagaland People's Organisation were among others who were present and spoke at the occasion.
