The incumbent Pradhan of Moirang Kampu Gram Panchayat, Wahengbam Dhiren has been accused of misappropriating huge amount of public money sanctioned from the Central and State Governments.
According to L Prashanta of Moirang Kampu Union Club, the matter came to light after a local sought detailed information regarding sanctioned amount through RTI.
Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club today, L Prashanta said, at the first instance, the Pradhan had fraudulently withdrawn a huge amount of money from the State Finance Commission in the name of construction of a community hall at Moirang Kampu Gram Panchayat ground.
Taking further dig on the Pradhan, Jogendrajit said, Rs 4 lakh and Rs 5.5 lakh was withdrawn in addition to Rs 2197 for 27 days' wages in the name of construction of the hall.
However, the hall is still standing incomplete, he added.
Prashanta added that the Pradhan had also withdrawn Rs 22,500 and Rs 27,500 in the name of repairment of community tank at Torban Leikai.
He further said that the Pradhan had also misappropriated the amount withdrawn for renovation of water reservoir of Khurai Kongpal Ningthoubung Leikai.
Prashanta added that no work is visible although Rs 60,000 has been withdrawn for the construction of extended verandah of Awang Kongpal Junior High School.
He added that Rs 38,750 and Rs 76,635 were withdrawn respectively for the construction of sanitary latrine for Moirang Kampu Union Club and waiting shed at Khewa Bazar.
