Arms missing case: Special Court to hear NIA application

Special Court NIA Manipur has fixed tomorrow to hear the application filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for taking a voice recording of Saikul MLA Yamthong Haokip in connection with the arms missing case from 2nd Manipur Rifles arms kote.
It may be mentioned that MLA Yamthong Haokip is presently lodged in judicial custody at JNIMS security ward.
The application for taking the voice recording of Yamthong Haokip was filed by the 10 of NIA, through the APP some days ago before the Special Court NIA Manipur.
In response to the said application, the counsel of the MLA also submitted a written objection before the Court.
On October 19, NIA submitted another written application before the Court after which the Court fixed the hearing tomorrow.
It may be mentioned that Saikul MLA Yamthong Haokip has been in judicial custody since August 24 after he was arrested by NIA in connection with the arms missing case from 2nd Manipur Rifles arms kote.
NIA alleged that during the course of investigation and while recording the confessional statement of some other accused of the case, it was revealed that Yamthong Haokip had received several consignments of 9 mm pistols which went missing from the 2nd Manipur Rifles arms kote and the MLA even delivered some of the weapons to Saitu MLA Ngamfhang Haokip and his son in law David Hangsing, who is also the chairman of Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA).
Before arresting Yamthong Haokip, a team of NIA conducted a raid at the MLA's Mantripukhri residence on July 30 and 31 and during the raid, the NIA team arrested Yamthong Haokip's driver, Thokchom Diamond and also recovered gold ornaments worth around Rs 20 lakh, Rs 26.40 lakh in cash, one 9 mm pistol (which was among those missing from the 2nd Manipur Rifles arms kote), one 9 mm Berretta, one double barrel gun, one single barrel gun, 22 live .32 pistol rounds, 15 live 9 mm rounds, 4 live 7.62 rifle rounds and 4 live AK Rifle series round.
On September 25, NIA submitted its first charge sheet against 8 accused (Laishram Anilkumar, Thokchom James alias Tonao, Paonam Shantikumar, Haobam Bhogendro, Ngamboi Haokip alias Raju, Nellikattil Padiyan Damodaran, Mathurabasimayum Hiranjoy Sharma alias Ngoubi alias Laishram Damudor alias Thembung), out of the 12 individuals arrested in connection with the case, before the Special Court, NIA.
During the submission of the first FIR, NIA also mentioned that investigations had been launched against KRA chairman David Hangsing, Thokchom Diamond and Saikul MLA Yamthong Haokip.
One of the accused, Rifleman Narayan Chettry (44) s/o Man Bahadur Chettry of Bhimpokara Ward number 6, Nepal, was released by an order of the Special Court NIA Manipur on October 1 after IO of the NIA submitted an application before the Court stating that no concrete evidences were found against him regarding his alleged involvement in the arms missing case and prayed for acquitting Narayan Chettry from the case.
Till date, NIA has recovered/ seized 20 number of 9 mm pistol and 5 magazine which are among the 56 pistols and 5.8 magazines which went missing between 2016 and 2017 .
