ICAR-KVK Churachandpur organizes training programme on rabi crops

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra Churachandpur (ICAR Manipur Centre) organized a day long training cum input injection programme on Rabi pulses at conference hall of ICAR-KVK Churachandpur today.
The programme was conducted under the leadership of Dr I Meghachandra Singh, Joint Director ICAR Manipur Centre Lamphelpat Imphal and patronage of Dr Narendra Prakash Director ICAR for NEH Region Umiam Meghalaya under the sponsorship of Department of Agriculture Co-operation & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India.
The training aimed to enhance production and productivity of Field Pea in the rice fallow while a total of 16 progressive farmers from different villages of Churachandpur district participated in the programme and were benefited with Field Pea and plant protection kits.
Addressing the gathering Dr Niranjan Lal, Senior Scientists & Head ICAR-KVK Churachandpur briefed on cultivation of Field Pea under zero tillage in puddled rice fallow.
He also explained the economic benefits of using Resource Conservation Technology (RCTs) for sowing of Field Pea under rice fallow.
Dr N Johnson Singh, SMS (Plant Protection) spoke in detail on the major diseases rabi pulses inflicted by insects and pests in Manipur and also explained their management for the welfare of the farming community in the district.
L Basil, farm Manager, highlighted the importance of soil health and explained the benefits of soil biological activity for sustainable and productive farming.
Dr S Roma Devi, ACTO (Home Science) ended the programme with vote of thanks while Manngaihkim Technical Officer, explained about the organisational development of Farmers Club and conducted the programme smoothly.
