Imphal, May 13 2011:
Unhappy with the number of posts allocated for the Thadou tribe in the recruitment of teachers under Rastriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), the Thadou Students' Association today warned that they will be constrained to take up "intense agitation" if their grievance is not addressed by the state government at the earliest.
The student body alleged that the advertisement process for graduate teachers under RMSA issued on April 7, 2011, had manifested an act of injustice of posts for language graduate teacher to various language subjects.
Even though, Thadou is the second largest populous tribe which produced the largest number of candidates appearing in the language subject every year in both HSLC and HSSLC exams, however, only six posts of teachers in the currently ongoing rally for appointment of teachers under RMSA was allocated, TSA pointed out.
Tangkhul, the one that immediate next to it with student strength four times less than that of Thadou was given 17 posts, the statement further observed and alleged that this has clearly exposed the inefficiency of the state government in formulating definite education policy from the inception of the Education Department till date.
"We are not against the allocation of more posts of teacher to other tribes but it is the haphazard policy of government that we are vying for," the student body alleged and demand government rectify the "anomalies created in the advertisement in the interest of Thadou students in particular and for justice sake in general" .
