Imphal, October 21 2026:
The National People's Youth Front (NPYF) of the National People's Party (NPP) has strongly condemned the alleged racially derogatory remarks made by social media content creator Amir Shokeen against a youth from Tripura during an interaction reportedly recorded in Delhi.
The incident recently gained widespread attention following circulation of a video on social media.
In a statement, the NPYF said the reported remarks, which appear to ridicule the individual's physical appearance, ethnic identity and place of origin, are deeply concerning and contrary to the principles of dignity, equality, fraternity and mutual respect enshrined in the Constitution of India.
"The identity, culture and dignity of the people of Northeast India must never become subjects of ridicule, discrimination or humiliation, whether in public interactions or under the guise of humour and digital content creation.
Every citizen of India, irrespective of ethnicity, physical appearance or geographical origin, deserves equal respect and dignity", the Front stated.
While taking note of the explanation and public apology reportedly offered by Amir Shokeen, including his claim that the interaction was scripted, the NPYF maintained that the use of racially insensitive expressions in publicly circulated content raises legitimate concerns that cannot simply be dismissed as entertainment.
The NPYF urged the concerned authorities, including Delhi Police, to examine the incident fairly and impartially, ascertain complete facts and take appropriate action in accordance with applicable laws, should any legal violation be established.
It further called upon government authorities, educational institutions and digital content creators to promote greater sensitivity towards the diverse ethnic, cultural and regional identities of the people of Northeast India, and to strengthen awareness and preventive measures against racial stereotyping and discrimination.
As a national youth organisation, the NPYF reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the dignity, safety and constitutional rights of all citizens, particularly young people who leave their home states in pursuit of education, employment and better opportunities.
