Protesting the alleged violation of the students' rights by the Election Committee of Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU), several disgruntled students of the University staged a sit in protest today in front of the Manipur University Students' Home.
Speaking to reporters, a member of the protestors said that the Election Committee of MUSU has undertaken a one-sided efforts relating to the coming Students' Union election of the university slated for April 24 .

He said that in earlier MUSU's election, provisional Class XII pass certificates have been validated in filing nomination.
But today, the election committee demanded the original Class XII pass certificates to be produced in filing nomination.

He categorically stated that the election committee is bias in dealing the matter.
The annoyed student further said that identity cards for around 200 students have been not issued yet.
The committee forbids the issuance of the I-cards citing that the staffs were pre-occupied with other works at this time.
However, the student alleged, I-cards of whom the committee favoured have been issued behind closed doors.
He also alleged the election committee of defying the Lyngdoh Commission recommendations in conducting the University students' union election.
