Imphal, May 15 2010:
Identity of all the five cadres of Pakan Reunification Army (PRA) who were shot dead by 21 Assam Rifles during an encounter in the intervening night of May 13 and 14 at Khambathel under Chandel district have been established today.
They were W S Momo (27) s/o Jacky of Khambathel, HB Givingson (19) s/o Livingstone of Toupokpi, Chandel district; Hmanthung Bungdon (43) s/o BD Lumhring of Khupi village, Chandel district;TH Rockson (26) s/o Wangdok of Kotal Khunthak, Chandel district and Naocha Doungel (25) s/o Khongshat of T Gangpijang, Churachandpur district.
All the five bodies have been handed over to their respective families after autopsy at RIMS Hospital.
Assam Rifles have claimed that a huge cache of arms and ammunition including theee M-16 Rifles and two AK-47 Rifles were recovered from the site of the encounter.
UG held:Troops of 5 Assam Rifles have arrested a hard core PLA activist from Uchathol in Jiribam during a search operation, reports our Jiribam correspondent.
The arrested PLA cadre has been identified as self-styled Sgt Maj Paonam Chandrajit alias Chingkheingamba alias Marconi and his army no, is 1803 of 99 batch of PLA.
According to AR sources, Chandrajit was involved in extortion and sabotage activities and he was the mastermind in burning of Betel leaf-laden truck at Jairoilpokpi in Jiri last month.
He has been handed over to Jiri police station.
Attack flayed: The Young Star Sporting Union (YSSU), Keikhu has condemned the bomb attack by unidentified armed persons at the Keikhu Mayai Leikai residence of Md Nazimuddin s/o late Mv Rahimuddin (53), who is the BDO of Khengjoi TD Block, last night.
In the said attack, one Md Zakir s/o Md Abdul Khalique (31) of Keikhu Makha Leikai sustained injuries and has been admitted to JN Hospital.
YSSU has also announced its decision of imposing restriction on the entry of outsiders in Keikhu Muslim area between 7 pm to 5 am daily.
On the other hand, Meitei Shaktam Langba Shanglen, Nambol has decried the firing attack of the unidentified armed persons at the shop of one Salam Budhachandra at Nambol Bazar in the evening of May 9 and appealed to all concerned such incidents are not repeated.
