Imphal, May 15 2010:
After an informal round of talk with SPF senior Cabinet Minister Th Debendra today at the invitation of the Law Minister, the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO will hold a meeting at 3 pm of May 17 .
The JAC representatives and Th Debendra held an informal meeting at about 2 pm today.
During the meeting, the JAC put up their demands of implementation of the 6th Pay in toto and to amend the pay structure formulated recently by the State Government.
At this, Th Debendra suggested that the matter may be discussed together with the Chief Minister.
Subsequently, it was agreed to hold a meeting between the JAC and the Government on May 17 .
A spokesperson of the JAC informed The Sangai Express that a solution may be achieved during the first ever meeting with the Chief Minister after the cease-work agitation was launched.
The JAC and the Cabinet Sub-Committee had already negotiated though without success.
In view of the restive situation caused by NSCN (IM) General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah's attempt to visit Manipur and the hardships being endured by the people due to the prolonged economic blockade being imposed by ANSAM on National Highways, the State Government has evinced desire to strike an agreement with the agitating employees through dialogue, claimed the JAC spokesperson.
The JAC was not informed when the Manipur Secretariat Service Association withdrew from the cease-work strike after talking with the Government.
Although, the JAC has agreed to sit for negotiation with the State Government on May 17 during the informal meeting with senior Minister Th Debendra today, the JAC would stay away from the scheduled meeting if it does not receive a formal invitation from the Government, added the spokesperson.
