Imphal experiences increased high noise level

Imphal, June 13 2015 :
Noise level in Imphal city area is now recorded to be beyond permissible limit with Kangla Fort gate area registering 72 decibel against permissible limit of 50 decibel during day time.
Noise level in the city is regularly monitored under the Noise Pollution (Regulation & Control Rules, 2000) during day time from 6 am to 10 pm and from 10 pm to 6 am during night time, official sources informed.
As per record maintained in January this year, the noise level during day time in the Kangla Fort main gate area reached 72 decibel which is beyond the permissible level.
During night time this area registered 57 decibel against permissible level of 40 decibel.
In Keishampat Junction area, during day time the decibel was recorded at 77 against 65 which is acceptable while during night time the decibel rate was 65 against 55 which is accepted as standard limit.
The Singjamei market area recorded the noise level as 76 decibel during day time, but the permissible level is 65 decibel, and the area registered 63 decibel against normal standard decibel limit of 55 during night time.
During day time in Gandhi Avenue area the noise level reached 77 decibel against standard limit of 65 decibel, and during night time it recorded 63 against permissible limit of 55 decibel.
