World Population Day observed

As observed elsewhere, the World Population Day was also observed here in the State capital with Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing as chief guest at RD Wing, Lamphelpat under the aegis of the Directorate of Family Welfare Services and the State Health Society.
Speaking at the gathering, Phungzathang Tonsing highlighted the importance of family planning and birth control.
The ever growing human population has become a serious global issue.
There is a growing need to limit the number of children.
Saying that a family with two or three children is a happy family, Phungzathang urged all couples to focus on giving the best education to their children.
He said that the world population control programme was introduced in 1986.Manipur won first position in the same programme's C category.
He also advocated a gap of at least three years between two children.
Health Services Director Dr O Ibomcha, Family Welfare Director Dr K Rajo and AYUSH Director Dr K Lokendro were also present at the function.
