Symposium held

Imphal, June 20 2016:
A symposium on the role of newspapers on
the development of Manipuri literature was held today at the
Hueiyen Lanpao Literary Hall.
The symposium was jointly organised by the Sahitya
Akademi and Hueiyen Lanpao.
Potshangbam Dhanakumar Singh, retired IPS and former
Chairman of BOSEM presided the inaugural session.
In first the technical session, L Sharatchandra Sharma spoke
on 'Trend of Manipuri Dailies,' while A Ibomcha Sharma
spoke on Manipuri dailies and literature.
Prof JC Sanasam
spoke on role of Manipuri dailies for the development of
literature.
In the second session, Soibam Indrakumar delivered a
speech on role of Manipuri dailies in critical evaluation of
literature while Dr K Shantibala Devi spoke on Manipuri
dailies and children literature and Th Anjulika Samom spoke
on Manipuri dailies and women writers.
Amongst others, the programme was attended by Goutam
Paul, assistant editor of Sahitya Akademi, Kolkata and Huirem
Behari Singh, convener, Manipuri Language Advisory Board,
Sahitya Akademi.
