Virus toll crosses 1000; 10 more die, 752 new cases

Imphal, June 16 2021: Fatality count of Covid-19 pandemic in the state has crossed the 1000-mark on Wednesday as government bulletins reported 10 death cases and 752 new positive cases out of 8492 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

With the addition of 752 new cases, the active cases has once again crossed 9000 and stood at 9078 which include 3002 in home isolation and 6076 others undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities including district hospitals and Covid Care Centres.

Among the cases in healthcare facilities 389 (35 post covid patients included) are on oxygen support and 40 patients are on ventilator supports.

The figure does not include data from JNIMS and I-land hospitals.

As of Tuesday night, 692 patients were admitted in different hospitals including district hospitals and CHCs.

The last seven days reported 4497 new cases and 93 fatalities while 11,097 new cases and 201 fatalities were added during the current month.

So far, the state has reported 33,660 positive cases and 653 death cases since the beginning of the current year.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 10 (8 male & 2 female) Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (4), Thoubal (1), Kakching (1), Bishnupur (2) and Churachandpur (2) .

Three died at JNIMS, two each at Raj Medicity & DH Churachandpur, and one each at RIMS, Shija Hospitals and DH Thoubal.

The cumulative number of deaths is 1008 .

Three of the 10 victims were in the age group of below 45 years.

A 26-year-old man from Churachandpur was the youngest among the 10.One died within three hours of arriving at hospital, one within 24 hours and another within 48 hours.

Three of them did not have any co-morbid conditions.

According to official reports, the 752 new cases included 749 people (417 males & 332 females) from among the general population and 3 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

Their samples were tested at RIMS (6), JNIMS (33), District Hospitals (513) and other testing centres (200).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (125), Imphal West (231), Thoubal (59), Bishnupur (37), Kakching (84), Ukhrul (34), Churachandpur (85), Chandel (7), Senapati (13), Tamenglong (39), Tengnoupal (1), Kangpokpi (21), Jiribam (7) and Noney (6).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours, 408 patients were discharged from different facilities which included 295 from home isolation, 12 from RIMS and two from JNIMS and the rest 99 from other Covid care facilities.

Meanwhile, 39 new positive cases have been detected out of 221 samples tested in Kakching district on Wednesday.

Five were detected at Jiban Hospital and the remaining 34 at government RAT Centre.

One is a resident of Thoubal district while the remaining 38 are from Kakching district.

The cumulative number of positive cases in the state has reached 61,848 (general population -58,055 and CAPF personnel - 3,793).Number of recovered cases is 51,762 (general population - 48,001 and CAPF personnel - 3,761) and number of active cases is 9,078 (general population - 9,051 and CAPF personnel - 27).The recovery rate is 83.69 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1272 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 446 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

District Hospitals and government institutions have 385D and 70B filled cylinders while the district/sub-division wise stock position is Bishnupur (68D,0B,) Chandel, (30D,7B), Churachandpur (50D,0B), Thoubal (68D,19B), Ukhrul (16D,5B), Tamenglong (24D,1B), Senapati (50D,0B) Jiribam (33D,8B), Moreh (18D,5B), Kamjong (3D,1B), Kangpokpi (4D,0B), Kakching (13D,22B), Noney (2D,0B) and Pherzawl (6D,2B) .

As of Tuesday, 4,77,432 individuals have been administered Covid-19 vaccine shots and this figure include 81,771 jabbed for the second time.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (21,925), Imphal East (14,057), Thoubal (4966), Churachandpur (4785), Kangpokpi (1581), Tamenglong (1993), Bishnupur (3623), Senapati (1347), Ukhrul (1288), Kakching (2848), Chandel (1066), Noney (547), Tengnoupal (606), Jiribam (693), Kamjong (428), and Pherzawl (95) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (376), Imphal East (263), Thoubal (96), Churachandpur (81), Kangpokpi (24), Tamenglong (8), Bishnupur (66), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (14), Kakching (50), Chandel (14), Noney (2), Tengnoupal (4), Jiribam (3), Kamjong (3), and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 19,932 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 21,310 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 2,69,115 tests per million population against the national average of 2,75,179 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.63 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 8492 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 8.86 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 7.41 per cent.
