Lions Club organises community outreach programmes, Charter Nite celebrated

The Lions Club of Imphal Global, in collaboration with the National Health Mission (NHM), organised a community outreach programme at Heingang High School today.
The event witnessed active participation from students, teachers, and community leaders, with a focus on health, environmental awareness, and youth empowerment.
As part of the Lions Multiple programmes, "One Multiple One Activity" a Free Eye Screening Test was also conducted under the National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB), targeting students from Class VI to X.A total of 146 students benefited from this initiative, and the test results were handed over to the State Nodal Officer (SNO) of NPCB for further processing and distribution of power glasses to the students.
Simultaneously, a Health Awareness Programme on "Adolescent Health and Common Health Concerns" was held from 9 am to 10 am.
The session led by Dr Jubilee Wahengbam from the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram (RKSK) under the NHM Manipur, catered to more than 200 students from Class VIII to X.Later, a special Health Counseling Programme was conducted for Class IX and X students by six professional counselors from RKSK.
The programme aimed to educate young adolescents on crucial health issues, equipping them with the knowledge to lead healthier lives.
The highlight of the event was the Youth for a Greener Future initiative, which featured several activities including the distribution of plastic bottle recycling bins at key locations such as Heingang High School, Marjing Polo Cafe, and Marjing Temple.
A tree plantation drive was also held earlier in the morning at 8:45 am.
The programme service chairpersons were Dr Y Premchandra Singh and Kosygin Leishangthem, under the leadership of Konjengbam Dilip Singh, president of Lions Club of Imphal Global.
LIONS QUEST
The Lions Club of Imphal, Lions Club of Imphal Valley and Lions Club of Imphal North jointly organised the "Rohit Mehta Lions Quest Programme" under Lions Quest Week at Manipur Mahila Kalyan Samiti Children Home at Kabo Leikai (Dewlahland).
As a part of the programme, a poster making competition on the theme, "Good Social Behaviour for a Positive Life" was conducted.
It was participated by boys residing at the Home.
Later, an Interactive Talk Session on "Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)" was also conducted by Dr Leenthoi Ningombam, co-chairperson, Lions Quest, District 322D.Maisnam Pramodini Devi, secretary of Manipur Mahila Kalyan Samiti, expressed deep gratitude to the three Lions Clubs for organising the programme at the Boy's Home which will be beneficial to residents.
Notably, Rohit Mehta, the first Indian to become the Lions International President was instrumental in starting the Lions Quest Programme.
In his honour, Lions Quest Week is being observed from August 26 to September 1, 2024 by Lions Clubs in the country.
Moreover, in connection with the ongoing observation of Rohit Mehta Lions Quest Week, Lions Club of Imphal Central organised an awareness programme on "Social Emotional Learning & Guidance for the Career of Students" at Samurou Government High School, Samurou yesterday.
It was attended by Oinam Jibanchandra Singh, vice-president 1, Lions Club of Imphal Central; Oinam Chaoba Singh, Head Master, Samurou Government High School; Thiyam Mohendrapratap Singh, MJF, region chairperson, Region-I and Laipubam Upendro Sharma, MJF, zone chairperson, Zone - II as presidium members.
At the event, Ranjit Singh Yumnam, PMJF, district cabinet treasurer of Lions International District 322D spoke about the Lions International and its functions while Dr Leenthoi Ningombam, MJF, co-chairperson, Lions Quest elaborated on Social Educational Learning (SEL) and Lions Quest Programme.
Chandam Rajen, Associate Professor, Modem College also spoke on the occasion.
Altogether, 87 persons including students and teachers of Samurou High School took part in the programme.
CHARTER NITE
The 18th Charter Nite celebration of Lions Club of Imphal Leimarol was held today at Hotel Imphal.
It was attended by Th Kesho Singh, district governor, Lions Club International District 322D and Kh Ibomcha, MLA, Lamlai Assembly Constituency as presidium members.
Induction of new members, releasing of "Lions Symphony, Volume 16 Number 1", felicitation of Charter members and administration of rededication pledge by Dr Bilashini Devi were the main highlights of the event.
