Imphal, July 21 2013:
Refuting the clarification made by PIB (DW) regarding alleged thrashing of Nailin Malangmei of Satudai village by personnel of 8 Gorkha Regiment, Zeliangrong Youth Front (Nungba Zone) and Zeliang-rong Students' Union, Khou- pum Area have suggested the PIB (DW) not to rely on 'wrong' feedback or reports provided by the Unit regarding the incident without authenticating the facts.
In a joint press release, the two bodies said that the victim has suffered ear drum damage due to hard blow on his head apart from several swelling marks on his body.
The matter will be taken up to any appropriate authority or forum till justice is delivered.
The Zeliangrong bodies said denial of the incident by PIB (DW) has exposed desperate attempt to cover up Army's excesses and mislead the general public.
The army committing inhuman and excessive acts upon innocent civilian would be proved as and when required as there are enough evidence to substantiate it.
The innocent peace loving villagers will stand before any law Court as witnesses regarding the incident, it added.
Trying to paint different picture is an old trick of psychological intimidation of the Army, the press release added.
The PIB (DW) even dubbing the people's voice against the inhuman act as smear campaign against the Army is serious allegation which is never expected from the Army whose purpose is to protect the citizens, the two bodies said.
Distorting facts is a common practice which the army has been doing whenever excessive acts are meted out to innocent people.
The primary purpose of deployment of Army in any area is to boost people's confidence and bring secured mind but personnel of 8 Gorkha Regiment tortured civilian in contrary to the said purpose.
