Union advises students to attend classes regularly

Consequent to the Manipur University notification that implies atleast 70 percent attendance as mandatory to be eligible for appearing in final examinations, Students' Union of Presidency College, Motbung today advised the students for regular attendance so that academic pursuit reaches the goal.
"Without good attendance students will not achieve their potential and benefit fully from the excellent quality of teaching and learning experiences the school provides and it leads to educational disadvantage and put young people at risk of limited life chances", stated Union General Secretary Nemneithem Kipgen as regular classes of Classes XI to BA/BSc standard for the 2013-14 session got underway.
Prevailing upon the students that regularity in attendance and diligent application are essential components for progress of a student as well as for their achievement, Nemneithem cautioned "Irregularity in attending school is a major disruptive force in student's life for it disrupts continuity of learning and subsequently leads to under-achievement or inappropriate behaviour as such type of students are isolated from their compatriots and thus miss opportunities for shared work and fun" .
Referring to the MU notification on attendance percentage she appealed to all the College students to put in their best efforts in fulfilling the MU criteria for eligibility in appearing the university examinations.
Expressing that parents too need to ensure regular attendance of their wards along with monitoring their behaviour and attendance, Nemneithem reminded that under no circumstance should parents/guardians be indulgent in the education of their children.
The Union also elaborated that, improving and maintaining school attendance require a committed partnership involving parents and families, teachers and support staffs, she affirmed that the Union aims at providing a conducive and healthy environment.
