Imphal, October 20 2022:
While extending their gratitude to Chief Minister N Biren Singh for the resolutions taken to improve the service condition of VDFs, All Manipur VDF Welfare Association has highlighted their grievance regarding their low monthly honorarium.
A statement issued by All Manipur VDF Welfare Association has extended their gratitude to N Biren Singh, Cabinet Ministers, DP, officials of Finance Department and Home Department for their contribution in the passing of resolutions announced yesterday which include annual increment to the tune of Rs 500, 15 days compulsory leave in a year, annual medical tests, reservation of 10 percent in direct recruitment to the rank of Rifleman and Constable among others.
The statement also thanked Chief Advisor Wangkhemcha Shamjai for his efforts in this regard.
Emphasizing their grievance in connection with their monthly honorarium of Rs 8500, the statement added that trying to make ends meet with this meagre salary in the face of increasing inflation has caused a lot of distress to VDF personnel.
Further, the statement also underscored the role of VDF personnel in maintaining law and order, protecting public property and the activities related to the War on Drugs campaign.
In the performance of such duties, the statement drew comparison between VDF personnel and the police, MR and IRB.
The statement then recalled the Chief Minister's statement made during the Assembly Session on August 1 of this year wherein he allegedly assured to increase the monthly honorarium of VDF personnel.
Adding that no tangible action had been taken up in this connection, All Manipur VDF Welfare Association urged the Chief Minister to increase their monthly honorarium and help them live a life of dignity.
