Reflecting the split of Shiv Sena into two groups in Maharashtra, one led by Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray and the other led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Sambhaji Shinde, the party has now two camps in the State too.
Shiv Sena State office located at Babupara is affiliated to the group led by Eknath Shinde.
A new office of the same party affiliated to the Uddhav Thackeray group was opened today at Singjamei Bazar and Toijam Devananda has been appointed president of the party's State unit.
Toijam Devananda told media persons that the Shiv Sena has split into two factions.
Claiming that the faction led by Uddhav Thackeray is the original Shiv Sena, Devananda said that an office of the party's State unit has been opened to carry out political activities as per instructions from the party's Central headquarters.
He said that the party has been preparing to contest forthcoming elections in the State and it would pick up all major issues of the State as its election agenda.
Office bearers of the new office have also been elected.
Sam Laithangbam, RK Suraj, Thokchom Bhubon and Chirom Gitan have been elected vice-president (administration), general secretary (administration), general secretary (organisation) and spokesperson respectively.
