Encouraging the senior and elder citizens of the society to guide and advise the youth of the State towards righteousness, Education Minister Thokchom Radheshyam emphasized that people of Manipur are talented and capable of enduring different challenges.
He said that the youths will be able to achieve their dreams and goals through proper platform and forums.
The Minister was speaking at the 1 Oth foundation day of Guru Kulla Cultural Academy (GKCA), held at the auditorium of GKVA, Khurai Sajor Leikai.
He conveyed that a guru/ teacher is like a lamp that drives away the darkness with its single ray, dispelling the ignorance of students with their knowledge and teachings.
Culture, he said, is the source of love, purity, discipline and added that cultural institutions should uphold the values and moral traditions that would nurture the society.
Highlighting the contributions of cultural institutions, he appealed all to spread the moral values encrypted in the art and culture among the youth for progress towards better future of the society and the State as well.
He expressed hope that the present generation will take forward the age old traditions by preserving and conserving its essence.
Stressing on the status of an artist, Secretary, Manipur State Kala Academy, L Keshorjit Singh said that the performing art form of Manipur is highly regarded as one of the prominent art forms in India (especially the Manipur dance) .
He said that making the performing art and culture as part of the academic curriculum will provide an opportunity for the artistes to grow and help in conserving the tradition and culture of Manipur.
He further urged to take the benefits of the schemes implemented by the State Government.
As part of the celebration, The Guru Kulla Memorial Awards, 2018 were presented to three prominent Gurus of the State namely L Munal Singh, (Nata Eshei), Gotimayum Sanatombi Sharma, Gwal Tabi (Nata Eshei) and Oinam Biramangol (Theatre) .
Meanwhile, four renowned artists namely Sarangthem Shyambabu, Khwairakpam Biswamitra, Thongam Thoi Thoi and Chungkham Chandani were felicitated.
MLA, Khurai A/C, L Sushindro Meitei, renowned Guru, students attended the function among of hers.
