5 days remand for shooting mom-in-law

Irom Randhir who allegedly shot and injured his mother in law was produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East today and remanded to five days police custody till September 24.Irom Randhir (37) s/o Manglem of Kongpal khongkham Leikai was arrested by police today morning at around 8.30 from Porompat crossing, after he was on the run since yesterday evening after he allegedly shot his mother in law, Pebam Takhellei, at the parental residence of his wife located at Naharup Mayai Leikai.
The accused was produced before the CJM Imphal East Court along with a prayer for remanding him to police custody for smooth investigation of the case.
The Court heard and went through the case record and remanded the accused to 5 days police custody till September 24 .
It may be mentioned that Pebam Takhellei (59) w/o Robindro sustained bullet injuries after she was shot by her son in law at Naharup Mayai Leikai with a shotgun at around 4.20 pm yesterday.
It was reported that the wife of the accused has been staying at her parental home since around 4 months back due to alleged harassment by Randhir.
Before yesterday's shooting incident, it was alleged that Randhir told Takhellei (over the phone) that he would come and take back his wife but Takhellei made it clear that she would not hand over her daughter to him.
Later, the accused came to the his wife's parental home and allegedly shot his mother in law at around 4.20 pm.
Takhellei is presently undergoing treatment at Advance Speciality Hospital and Research Institute with bullets injuries on her hand, chest and abdomen.
