Jiribam, November 23 2016:
Due to lack of security measures, truck drivers refused to proceed towards Imphal and have halted their loaded trucks at Jiribam.
Truck drivers plying along Jiribam- Imphal road held a meeting at Gularthol, Jiribam and appealed to the civil organizations who have imposed blockade along NH-37 to bring an amicable solution with the authority concerned.
In the meeting, the truck drivers demanded the State Government to provide 3000 security forces, a recovery van, an ambulance and fire service.
They also urged to set an organised timing to halt the escorted trucks at a suitable place under proper security measures.
The drivers also demanded not to conduct entry registration at every security post except at Leingangpokpi police outpost.
They also cautioned that if any truck or driver is harmed, the State Government should take the responsibility and added that unless their demands are addressed, the truck drivers will not proceed towards Imphal.
