Financial assistance provided to IDPs in Champhai Sub Division

Kangpokpi, July 21 2024:
Textiles, Commerce and Industries and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen distributed financial assistance to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Kangpokpi District's Champhai Sub-Division today.
The assistance marks the fourth One-Time Assistance from the Government of India, aimed at providing clothing and personal belongings to people in relief camps.
She handed Rs 1000/- each to IDPs at the DIET Centre, Leikop relief camp.
The distribution event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi Mahesh Chaudhari, ADC Kangpokpi Shokhongam Baite, AC to DC Kangpokpi Samuel Misao, Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Champhai Lamminlal Simte, and other officials.
Over two thousand IDPs across eleven relief camps in Champhai Sub-Division received financial assistance today.
Nemcha Kipgen expressed her heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the Central government for its tireless and benevolent efforts for the well-being of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in various relief camps.
She encouraged the IDPs to use their talents and skills to sustain their livelihoods by availing themselves of various Government schemes.
She further announced plans to arrange a handloom cluster for those interested in weaving and suggested that the district administration open a shop for IDPs to sell their handloom and handicraft products.
Motivating the IDPs not to lose hope, she assured them that they would eventually return to normal life.
She urged them to be strong in prayer and support each other during these challenging times.
Meanwhile, Nemcha Kipgen, accompanied by DC Kangpokpi, ADC Kangpokpi, and SDO Champhai, visited the nearly completed pre-fabricated Houses at Ngahmun village.
The District Administration officials briefed the Minister, informing her that the houses can accommodate around 150 families and will be completed within two to three days.
Nemcha Kipgen advised the District Administration to ensure a clean and hygienic environment in the pre-fabricated houses.
