'Meetei Puya Waree Leeba Changdamnaba' held

The 11-days long "Meetei Puya Waree Leeba Changdamnaba" organised by the Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board (LSTB), Haying Khongban Uphong Yumpham began today at Lainingthou Sanamahi Sanglen.
The inaugural function was graced by Social Welfare Minister, Heikham Dingo Singh; LSTB vice president, Vidyapati Senjam (Wakhal Lamjingba) and Manipur State Kal Academy, Secretary, Sunanda Thokchom as presidium members.
The event began with the lighting of candles followed by offering of floral tributes to the deceased "Ojas" of Meetei Puya Waree Leeba.
Speaking on the occasion, Heikham Dingo lauded the remarkable contributions of LSTB in keeping alive the unique art form of narrative art "Waree Leeba" in Manipur and beyond.
He asserted that the "Meetei Puya Waree Leeba Changdamnaba" organised by LSTB is a good step towards popularising the historical accounts/ stories of the Meetei community.
The Minister also called for collective effort to safeguard & promote the indigenous culture and traditions of the State so that its legacy will be carried forth to coming generations for a strong and developed society.
During the event, W Sajou and Ngangbam Leima gave a performance of "Wari Phaibok Leeba" .
