Imphal, April 01 2011:
An angry mob lynched a couple, who were allegedly involved in shooting dead a Zilla Parishad member in Thoubal district today.
Local reports as well as police reports said that Md Sahauddin (53), a Member of the Pallel Zilla Parishad, hailing from Sora was shot dead by gunmen last night after called him out from his house around 9.30 pm.
The dead body of the Member with multiple bullet injuries was found in a paddy field, 6 kms away on the east of Kakching PS, this morning.
Irate over the killing, people of Sora village rose up and killed the couple, Md Mujibula @ Mikel (35) and his wife Nursana Begum, hailing from Sora Awang Leikai today around 9 am.
Locals alleged that the couple was among five suspects in the murder of the Zilla Parishad Member.
The other suspects are Alifzan Begum, Milan and Jacky.
The last two are tribals from adjoining villages.
Deceased Nursana Begum along with Alifzan Begum had called out Sahauddin last night for a talk.
They were seen sharing pan in a pan shop at Sora bazar last night, locals said.

While they were together, Nursana contacted her husband who came with Milan and Jacky and took away Sahauddin.
People nearby said very soon they heard gun shots.
Early this morning when the bullet riddled dead body of Sahauddin was found in a paddy field.
Womenfolk and local youths immediately convened a meeting to discuss the killing of the Zilla Parishad Member.
Family members and local people stormed at the house of Mujibula and Nursana and set afire their house.
Local reports said, gun shots were fired from the house and that Mujibula was killed when he ran out of the house after it started to burn.
His wife who hid herself in a toilet was dragged out by the mob and lynched.
Two persons possibly Milan and Jacky who hid at the barn of the house managed to escape.
The crowd then stormed the house of Alifzan who had fled with her husband Khalid.
The irate people were searching for the alleged culprits till late this afternoon, the local report added.
Later, a public meeting convened at Sora bazar formed a JAC in connection with the killing of ZP Member and resolved to press the government for making an inquiry into the killing of the member and to book the culprits.
It also resolved to insist the government to provide a government job to a family member of deceased Sahauddin.
The meeting further decided to ban entry of any UG in Sora for all times and to impose an indefinite bandh on Imphal-Moreh section of NH 39 with effect from midnight tonight.
The bandh would be continued till their demands are fulfilled by the state government, a statement of the JAC signed by its secretary Md Ayashuddin said.
Meanwhile, additional police force has been deployed in the area as the situation remains tense, Thoubal police said when contacted.
The dead bodies have also been recovered and transferred to the JNIMS morgue for necessary procedures, police added.
