Thoubal, May 24 2022: An eviction drive was carried out under the supervision of Ahanthem Subhas, Thoubal DC led by M Ranjita, SDO Thoubal; Jogeshchandra Haobijam, SP, Thoubal and Executive Engineer of Water Resource, Division 3 at Thoubal Charangpat along Arong River bank yesterday.

The eviction drive has been initiated as part of Chief Minister N Biren Singh's ongoing effort to drive out illegal encroachers.

Speaking to media persons, Ahanthem Subhas urged people who have illegally encroached on estate land and built houses or shops etc to dismantle these structures of their own volition.

If these illegal structures are not dismantled before the deadline set by the State, the government will take matters into their own hands, he said.

Altogether, 49 structures were dismantled during the day's eviction drive.
