Jiribam, December 22 2018: A one-day awareness programme on "Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY-NULM)" was organized by Jiribam Municipal Council (JMC), Jiribam, Manipur at Multi Complex, Auditorium Hall, Jiribam Babupara today.

The programme was attended by S Janaki Devi, Adhyakshya, Zilla Parishad, Jiribam as Chief guest; S Shanti Devi, Chairperson, JMC, Jiribam, Manipur as functional President; and S Wangoisana, Vice-Chairperson, JMC, Jiribam, Manipur; Moirangthem Surjit Singh, Executive Officer, JMC as Guests of honour while M Premchandra Singh, Lead ^District Manager, United Bank of India; S Nirmal Singha, Assistant Branch Manager, Bandhan Bank, Jiribam; K Gobadhon Meitei, Manager, Emoinu Gas Agency, Jiribam; Kh Chandrika Devi, Supervisor, ICDS, Jiribam attended the programme as resource persons.

The programme began with the lighting of flames by the Chief guest, President and Guests of honour while the welcome address was delivered by Ch Ranjit Kumar Singh.

Speaking at the occasion, Chief guest S Janaki Devi said that the State has initiated various welfare scheme for the benefits of the people and hoped that such schemes will keep on coming in future too while adding that the relation between the public and heads of various department will become stronger if the said schemes were implemented in close co-ordination between the two parties which will help to make Jiribam District a peaceful and prosperous district.

Functional President, S Shanti Devi, Chairperson, JMC, Jiribam appreciated the valuable knowledge imparted by the various Bank Managers as resource persons which will help in clarifying the doubts, uncertainties and confusion among the public and appealed all to extend support to each other for the smooth functioning of the Govt office and the bank.

Guest of honour, S Wangoisana, Vice-Chairperson, JMC, Jiribam said that today's programme was conducted for the unemployed youth to make use of the various welfare scheme and other start up programme initiated by the Govt at the optimum level so that they become self-reliant person and help economy of the district as well the State grow.

Later, O Meenakumari Devi, Community Organiser, JMC spoke on the topic "Self Help Group (SHG)" during the programme.

From amongst the Guest of honours and resource persons, M Surjit Singh, Executive Officer, JMC, Jiribam, Manipur spoke on the topic "NULM and its Components: Challenge and opportunities/Skill Training"; K Gobadhon Meitei, Manager, Emoinu Gas Agency, Jiribam on "Ujjwala Yojana Scheme"; Kh Chandrika Devi, Supervisor, ICDS, Jiribam on "National Nutrition Mission"; M Premchandra Singh, Lead District Manager, United Bank of India and S Nirmal Singha, Assistant Branch Manager, Bandhan Bank, Jiribam spoke on "Facilities/Schemes, loans provided to Individuals/SHGs, Entrepreneurs".

Chief guest and President of the programme also handed over 'Revolving Fund' to SHGs.
