NCC Imphal Group Commander, others call on Governor

Imphal, May 17 2024:
Brigadier SR Sharma, Group Commander, NCC, Imphal called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan this evening and apprised her about the activities taken up for training NCC cadets in the State.
During the meeting, Brigadier Sharma highlighted various activities associated with the training of about 7,250 NCC cadets in 15 districts, said a release issued by PRO of Raj Bhavan.
He shared that with the motto of unity and discipline, NCC has conducted awareness programmes across the State to instil the sense of nationalism and nation building amongst the youth.
Seeking the support of the Governor, Brigadier Sharma informed that a proposal to develop the NCC Headquarters in Imphal as an Academy has been submitted to the State Government through the Education Commissioner.
While appreciating the role of NCC in nation building and social work, Anusuiya Uikey asked the Group Commander to submit his proposal to the Education Minister and assured to extend support from her side.
Moreover, Prof Paonam Gunindro Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University of Culture (MUC) along with Devendra Sharma, Advisor, Ministry of Culture and two others also called on the Governor this evening and requested her to extend support in establishing a permanent campus of the university.
Prof Gunindro highlighted the activities of the university in nurturing the students by conducting cultural exchange programmes and workshops besides normal classes in the rented campus.
"Being one of the three cultural universities in the country, MUC has been engaged in exchanging cultural aspects with some foreign universities from Thailand and Bangladesh.
A MoU was also signed with a University of Thailand in February last", he added.
The Governor assured the team to extend her support in the development of a permanent campus of MUC and asked them to submit a proposal for the same.
Besides, Ashok Prasad Sahu, secretary, All Manipur Teli Association along with some members of the association also called on the Governor and submitted a memorandum requesting her support in addressing their grievances.
Ashok Prasad Sahu informed the Governor about the grievances faced by the Teli community in many aspects of life and sought her support for the development of the community.
The Governor while giving a patient hearing assured them to extend her support in the best interest of the community.
Representatives of Kalyan Ashram led by Jagdamba Mall, Sampark Pramukh also met the Governor this evening and apprised her of the various activities taken by the Ashram for Ihe betterment of the society.
They informed the Governor about their initiatives on education, social & cultural awareness, health and sports through programmes of national integration.
The Governor appreciated their commitment towards national integration and betterment of the society.
