New cases remain above 1000 mark for second day
1039 vectors detected out of 7056 samples tested; 14 patients succumb; Kakching TPR 21.09 per cent

Imphal, July 15 2021: The state on Thursday recorded over 1000 new cases for the second consecutive day with government bulletins reporting 1039 new Covid-19 cases out of 7056 samples tested along with 14 fatalities.

With daily positivity rate remaining high at around 14 to 15 per cent, the cumulative rate is also rising gradually to reach 8.30 per cent.

Thursday reported 14.73 per cent positivity rate against 14.54 per cent on Wednesday.

The active caseload swelled to 8558 out of which 3436 patients (40.15 per cent) are in home isolation, 2989 (34.93 per cent) in CHICs, 1271 (14.85 per cent) in CCCs and 862 (10.07 per cent) in hospitals.

Out of the 862 patients in hospitals, 112 are admitted to ICU/ HDU wards and 302 are on oxygen support while 36 are on ventilator support.

On the other hand, 78 patients are on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Wednesday night, the number of patients admitted to different treatment facilities in the state as against available bed strengths is RIMS (223/224), JNIMS (221/286), I Land Hospital (28/60), District Covid Facilities (145/347), MSF (26/30), Private Covid Hospitals (219/330) and CCCs (1271/2946) .

The grand total of admitted patients is 2287 and number of beds available is 2090 which include 445 vacant beds in hospitals and 1675 in CCCs.

The state has so far recorded 52,160 positive cases and 966 death cases during the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month has recorded 11,770 new cases and 190 fatalities out of which 6380 new cases and 99 fatalities were added in the last seven days only.

According to official reports, all the 1039 new cases (514 male & 525 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (30), JNIMS (125), District Hospitals (668) and other testing centres (216).The positive cases are from Imphal East (270), Imphal West (289), Thoubal (72), Bishnupur (94), Kakching (85), Ukhrul (1), Churachandpur (98), Chandel (23), Senapati (15), Tamenglong (44), Tengnoupal (4), Pherzawl (1), Noney (26), Kamjong (5) and Kangpokpi (12) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 14 Covid-19 deaths (11 male & 3 female) in the last 24 hours.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (5), Bishnupur (3), Kakching (1), Kangpokpi (2) and Churachandpur (3).Seven patients died at JNIMS, two each at Shija Hospital and DH CCpur, and one each at CCC Bishnupur, RIMS and DH Kangpokpi.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1340.In the last 24 hours, 677 persons were discharged from home isolation (298), RIMS (19), JNIMS (14), CCCs (147) and CHICs (199) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 81,560 (general population - 77,624 and CAPF personnel - 3,936).Cumulative number of recovered cases is 71,662 (general population - 67,838 and CAPF personnel - 3,824) and number of active cases is 8,558 (general population - 8,451 and CAPF personnel - 107).The recovery rate is 87.86 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1780 D-type and 390 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

District hospitals and government institutions have 405D and 104B filled cylinders and stock distributions made in different districts and facilities include Bishnupur (70D,0B), Chandel (34D,9B), Churachandpur (23D,0B), Senapati (44D,0B), Thoubal (87D,32B), Ukhrul (31D,19B), Tamenglong (20D,0B), Jiribam (46D,13B), Moreh (19D,7B), Kamjong (3D,2B), Kangpokpi (3D,0B), Kakching (17D,18B), Pherzawl (6D,2B), Noney (2D,2B) and CCCs (361D, 125B).A record number of 34,194 individuals were vaccinated on Wednesday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 8,52,179 out of which 1,03,744 have been fully inoculated.

Meanwhile, Kakching district is witnessing upsurge in new positive cases lately.

Out of 550 samples tested, a total of 116 new cases were detected in Kakching district during tests conducted from Wednesday 2 pm to Thursday 2 pm, thus showing positivity rate of 21.09 per cent.

Four cases were detected at Ema Hospital, three at Jivan Hospital and the remaining 109 at different government RAT sites and House to House testing.

The 116 positive cases were from Kakching AC (22), Wabagai AC (4), Hiyanglam AC (55), Sugnu AC (34) and Chandel AC (1).As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (28,235), Imphal East (17,940), Thoubal (6864), Churachandpur (6750), Kangpokpi (2002), Tamenglong (2388), Bishnupur (5509), Senapati (1563), Ukhrul (1595), Kakching (4379), Chandel (1348), Noney (665), Tengnoupal (853), Jiribam (815), Kamjong (498) and Pherzawl (156).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (464), Imphal East (333), Thoubal (123), Churachan-dpur (114), Kangpokpi (38), Tamenglong (11), Bishnupur (114), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (16), Kakching (82), Chandel (20), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (9), Jiribam (4), Kamjong (3), and Pherzawl (0) .

However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 26,284 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,256 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,16,500 tests per million population against the national average of 3,14,209 TPM.

Case fatality rate dipped to 1.64 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 7056 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 14.73 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 8.30 per cent.
