"Substandard work" at Kasom Khullen school peeves TAKL

Imphal, July 31 2026: The Tangkhul Aze Katamnao Long (TAKL) has expressed serious concern and dissatisfaction over the ongoing construction of a new building of the Kasom Khullen Higher Secondary School.

The continued execution of "substandard construction work" at Kasom Khullen Higher Secondary School is a direct insult to the students of the area, the people of Kasom Khullen, said the TAKL in a statement, asking authorities concerned to take "corrective measures" within a week.

Since the commencement of the project, TAKL has consistently cautioned the contractor concerned and work agency to maintain the highest standards of quality and ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with the approved specifications, it said.

"Based on our observations, the construction work is progressing at an unacceptably slow pace, while the quality of workmanship appears to be far below the standard expected for a public educational institution.

Such poor-quality construction, if left unaddressed, will compromise the safety, durability, and long-term interests of the students and the community," TAKL said.

A school building is a vital public asset that should serve generations of students.

Therefore, any compromise in quality or unnecessary delay is unacceptable and against the interests of the public, it said.

The contractor and agencies concerned, and the Government authorities should immediately improve both the pace and the quality of the construction work.

Every component of the project must be executed strictly in accordance with the approved specifications, engineering standards, and quality norms, TAKL said.

If no corrective measures are taken within one week, TAKL will be compelled to launch democratic and peaceful forms of agitation to safeguard public interest and ensure accountability, it added.
