An election meeting of Naga People's Front (NPF) candidate (Outer seat) K Timothy Zimik was held at Tamenglong today in the presence of several political leaders from the NDA alliance.
Water Resources Minister Awangbou Newmai (State president of NPF); K Timothy Zimik (the NPF candidate); Transport Minister Khasum Vashum (NPF); LDA chairman M Asnikumar Singh; NPP MLA Janghemlung Panmei; ex-MLAs Kikhonbou Newmai; Khangthonang Panmei; UNC vice president Poujan Gonmei; district presidents of BJP, NPF, NPP and community and religious leaders from Tamenglong, Nungba, and Tamei attended the programme.
At the function, Timothy Zimik expressed his belief in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Highlighting his vision, the NPF candidate assured to work for peace and development in the State and appealed to the people of Tamenglong to vote for him.
Once elected, he pledged to work for the underdeveloped areas of the State under the guidance of Central and State leadership.
He also extended his gratitude to the Prime Minister, Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister N Biren Singh for their 'support during this crucial time' .
M Asnikumar Singh, Prabhari of Manipur Outer Parliamentary Constituency of BJP Manipur Pradesh expressed profound gratitude to the workers of the NDA alliance of Tamenglong.
Asnikumar claimed that the seed of the unrest in contemporary Manipur was sown during the reign of the Congress party through their divisive and communal vote bank politics.
Since 1963, the Congress party has predominantly governed the State, yet crucial infrastructural developments such as roads, electricity, water supply, healthcare, and welfare initiatives have remained woefully inadequate, the LDA chairman alleged and added that BJP, however, has brought significant strides in Manipur under within a short span.
The election is a fight between the communal agenda of the Congress party and the development agenda of the BJP, he asserted.
Appealing to the gathering to lend their support to the NDA candidate from NPF Timothy Zimik, Asnikumar said "Let us stand united in our resolve to propel our State forward on the path of growth and prosperity" .
Emphasising BJP's commitment to serving the people of Manipur and beyond, Asnikumar urged the gathering to double their efforts to continue the welfare and developmental agenda of the NDA alliance in the region.
Asnikumar also recounted various welfare, development and infrastructure projects taken up not only in Tamenglong but across the State by the BJP led Government.
"From improved road connectivity to alleviating the perennial challenge of drinking water scarcity in Tamenglong, we are on a path of progress and welfare," he added.
Saying that it is was the BJP under the stewardship of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee that established the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Ministry of DoNER to give a special focus on the North East State, he claimed the Congress, on the other hand, failed to implement a single policy for the North East region despite being at the helm for decades.
Beyond development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also been showcasing the rich culture and history of Manipur and other North East State to every corner of the Nation and the world, Asnikumar said and added that a lesson on Rani Gaidinliu's valour and sacrifices are now taught in schools across the country.
The history and culture of the East North State including Manipur were neglected in the past, but all that has changed now, he boasted.
The Congress party will always make empty promises, such as the 'Look East' policy, but it was the Prime Minister that turned 'Look East' into 'Act East' policy, the LDA chairman continued and claimed that development was a trickle-down version where the public was the last to reap the benefits during the Congress rule.
In contrast, the BJP has been empowering the public, including women, youth, and marginalized communities, he claimed.
