ZUF clarifies on Angam Gondaimei killing

Against the backdrop of civil organisations of Nungba area serving an ultimatum to the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) in connection with the killing of Angam Gondaimei, the ZUF clarified that Angam Gondaimei of Makhuam Part-IV was given just a 'mild punishment' by shooting at his leg and he was killed by the AR in order to fix the blame
on ZUF.
A statement issued by the information and publicity secy of ZUF, A Dangmei said that Angam Gondaimei was unlikely to succumb due to the 'mild punishment' given by the front.
"The result of his death was because of the 10 AR actions on him," the ZUF alleged.
The ZUF also accused the late Angam Gondaimei of working as an informer of the AR in collusion with his son, Adin, a former cadre of ZUF who was persuaded to leave the outfit by his father.
Following persistent persuasion by his father to leave the outfit, Adin deserted the outfit.
However, instead of giving up the revolutionary activities and living peacefully with his family, the father-son duo started working for the 10 AR as informers, causing immense trouble to the outfit, the ZUF alleged.
Despite the Front's appeal to the father and son to desist from such activities, they had not stopped working for the adversary thus inviting the wrath of the ZUF, it said.
To ascertain the games of the father and son, the ZUF summoned Angam Gondaimei on Feb 6 .
During the interrogation, he had revealed many things that were beyond expectation, it said.
Firstly, he had illicit relationship with a close relative.
In order to avoid misunderstanding over the alleged affairs, Angam asked his son to leave the outfit.
He also persuaded the 10 AR to bring back his son to work for them, the ZUF alleged.
Secondly, in order to befool the ZUF and the public, Angam made his son get arrested by the AR after he left the outfit, the ZUF said.
Thirdly, Angam called the ZUF cadres several times in the presence of the AR personnel enquiring the location of ZUF cadres promising them to send back his son to the Front.
On another occasion, Angam called up the ZUF cadres to come and pick up his son from his village.
In all these occasions, he made 10 AR personnel to position on every road leading to the location with the intention to lay ambush and massacre the ZUF cadres, it said.
Due to all these, Angam had invited the wrath of the outfit, it said.
Despite all these father-son evil tactics, the Front did not take stern action but awarded a mild punishment.
He was shot at his leg.
The result of his death was due to the 10 AR actions against him, it clarified.
The Front had informed the villagers that a 'small action' will be taken up against him as a warning.
The villagers were also asked to come and pick up Angam for timely treatment.
Instead, the 10 AR came and picked him up.
The AR questioned him where he was taken, and this delayed his treatment, the ZUF said.
The AR killed Angam Gondaimei to fix the blame on ZUF.
Angam Gondaimei will not merely succumb due to the mild punishment given by the front, it said.
The ZUF further questioned why the 10 AR is still confining Adin Gondaimei in their custody without handing him to the police even after 24 hours of his arrest.
Can the civil organizations which have given the ultimatum to ZUF be able to justify such acts ? In case, the diabolic game of father-son and 10 AR claims the life of ZUF cadres, will these organizations be able to take responsibility ?, it asked.
The Front appealed to all concerned to understand the matter.
It also assured not to take any action against anyone without proper investigation.
The death of Angam Gondaimei also caused uneasiness to the Front as it is certain that he would not have died due to such a minor punishment.
