State sees lowest positivity rate since May 1
730 new cases, 10 deaths in 24 hours; daily tests cross 9k

The state on Thursday recorded lowest daily positivity rate since May 1 even as 10 fatalities and 730 new positive cases were recorded out of 9008 samples tested.
The test positivity rate was 8.10 per cent.
April 30 reported positivity rate of 7.98 per cent and from May 1 onwards the daily positivity rate reached double digit.
For the last three consecutive days, the daily positivity rate has been below 10 per cent.
For the first time since the pandemic set its feet in the state, the daily number of testing crossed 9000 mark on Thursday.
With the addition of 730 new cases, the active caseload has reached 9359 of which 4019 are in home isolation and the remaining 5340 are undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities including district hospitals and Covid Care Centres.
So far, the state has reported 29,893 positive cases and 570 death cases since the beginning of the current year.
The last seven days saw addition of 5182 new cases and 76 fatalities while 7330 new cases and 118 fatalities have been reported during the current month.
The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 10 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The district wise fatalities were Imphal West (6), Imphal East (1), Thoubal (2) and Churachandpur (1).Four of them died at JNIMS, two at RIMS and one each at Babina, Shija Hospitals, DH Thoubal and DH Churachandpur.
The cumulative number of deaths is 925.The 10 fatalities (seven male & three female) included a 29-year-old youth and four of them did not have any co-morbidities.
Three died within 24 hours of reaching hospital.
According to official reports, all the 730 new infection cases (369 male & 361 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (39), JNIMS (8), District Hospitals (465) and other testing centres (218).The positive cases are from Imphal East (160), Imphal West (225), Thoubal (101), Bishnupur (48), Kakching (55), Ukhrul (5), Churachandpur (87), Chandel (3), Senapati (13), Tamenglong (10), Tengnoupal (1), Kamjong (1), Pherzawl (1), Jiribam (13) and Noney (7).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 668 patients were discharged which included 505 from home isolation, 11 from RIMS, nine from JNIMS and 143 are from other Covid care facilities.
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 58,081 (general population - 54,314 and CAPF personnel - 3,767).Number of recovered cases is 47,797 (general population - 44,036 and CAPF personnel - 3,761) and number of active cases is 9,359 (general population - 9,358 and CAPF personnel - 1).The recovery rate is 82.29 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1345 D-type Oxygen cylinders and 521 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
District Hospitals and government institutions have 417D and 92B filled cylinders while the district/subdivision wise stock position is Bishnupur (71D,7B), Chandel (32D,7B) Churachandpur (85D,0B), Thoubal (68D,22B), Ukhrul (23D,2B), Senapati (32D,0B), Tamenglong (33D,13B), Jiribam (35D,10B), Moreh (15D,4B), Kamjong (3D,1B), Kangpokpi (5D,0B), Kakching (7D, 24B), Noney (2D,0B) and Pherzawl (6D,2B).So far, 4,52,635 individuals have been inoculated against Covid-19 till Wednesday and the number includes 81,253 persons who have received their second dose.
Meanwhile, 66 new positive cases have been detected in Kakching district on Thursday.
Two cases were confirmed at Ema Hospital, 10 at Jivan Hospital and 54 at Government RAT Centre.
Two of them are from Imphal West district and the rest from Kakching district.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (20,677), Imphal East (13,424), Thoubal (4580), Churachandpur (4223), Kangpokpi (1528), Tamenglong (1907), Bishnupur (3293), Senapati (1291), Ukhrul (1199), Kakching (2565), Chandel (973), Noney (532), Tengnoupal (574), Jiribam (603), Kamjong (427) and Pherzawl (82).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (346), Imphal East (251), Thoubal (85), Churachandpur (71), Kangpokpi (23), Tamenglong (8), Bishnupur (57), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (12), Kakching (44), Chandel (13), Noney (2), Tengnoupal (4), Jiribam (2), Kamjong (3) and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 18,718 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 21,005 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,55,367 tests per million population against the national average of 2,67,246 TPM.
Case fatality rate dipped to 1.59 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 9008 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 8.10 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rises to 7.33 per cent.
