Imphal, November 04 2009: In response to the call of the Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) and other students' and guardians' bodies, some schools re-opened today even though, three agitating student bodies remain stick to their stance not to withdraw the indefinite class boycott stir.

Some schools in the outskirts of Imphal and Thoubal district of the state were seen re-opened today when reporters visited.

However, no en-masse conducts of class in schools seen.

But, authorities and students' unions of the institutions informed that they will resume classes from tomorrow.

Some students' unions also issued circulations urging students regular classes from tomorrow.

In Imphal west students seen turning up to their schools and institutions but no class for the day.

The Institute of Co-operative Management, Laphelpat, Government Poly-technique, Takyelpat were opened.

In Jawahar Navodaya School, Khumbong was conducting normal class since October 23 as authority was informed for inspection.

Since then normal classes are on, a teacher of the school said.

In Thoubal district many students with their school uniform were seen on the road.

Conduct of classes seen in some schools.Most of the schools in the four valley districts of the state remaining closed since the last nearly two months since three students' bodies, AMSU later supported by MSF and KSA announced indefinite class boycott from September 9 .

Differences appeared among the student and guardian bodies after students were not able to attain classes due to the indefinite class boycott stir announced by three students' bodies, AMSU, MSF and KSA commencing from September 9 .

As a matter of long closures of the schools, some student bodies like the DESAM, ATSUM (All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur) and other smaller bodies rose up and started campaign for reopening of the schools criticizing that the class boycott stir is against the campaign for bringing quality education in the state which students' bodies are launching since long.

The three students' bodies have launched the stir extending support to the agitation spearheading by the Apunba Lup demanding resignation of the chief minister, O Ibobi and exemplary punishment to the police commandos involved in the alleged fake encounter shooting incident occurred at crowded Khwairamband Bazar that claimed life of two people- a young pregnant housewife and a former militant- on July 23 .

Series of public meetings organized by guardians' and students' bodies had appealed the three students' bodies and state government to settle the matter through talks.

The co-ordination committee formed, as fallout of the public meeting at BOAT on November 2, started campaigning from yesterday to re-open schools and resume the class as usual.

They even use laud speakers in the campaign and appealed the parents and guardians to send their wards to the schools.

In response to the appeal, some schools re-opened today.

There were no reports of any untoward incidents when the schools re-opened and conduct classes.

Police also conducted patrolling in and around the areas schools are located.

Meanwhile, Students' Unions of Ibotonsana Girls' Higher Secondary School, Uripok and Johnstone Higher Secondary School have informed all students of the respective institutions that normal classes will begin from tomorrow.

In a separate statements, signed respectively by the games and sports secretary Ibotonsana Girls' Higher Secondary School, N Padmini and general secretary of Johnstone Higher Secondary School, L Kanan urged all concerned to extend support to the class resumption.

It stated that the boycott agitation launched by the students' unions in the four valley districts is very unfortunate.

It further noted that causing disturbance to students is uncalled for.
