Many organisations pledge support to UKAL's State wide bandh

Twenty eight organisations from the State and 85 Umang Lai Thougal Lup have come out in support of the 48-hour state-wide bandh called by Umang Lai Kanba Lup (UKAL) from midnight of February 24 against the non-rescheduling of the 2nd phase of State Assembly election which falls on the auspicious occasion of Lamta Thangja on March 5 .
In a statement, UKAL shared the names of the organisations which include Lairembi Sintha Lup, khurai; Maichou Ningshing Lup, Khurai; Universal Meitei National Forum, Kammuching; Kangla Famdou, Kangleipak, Imphal; Langol Lairembi Saiol Emoinu Ema Charitable Trust, Langol; Meitei Enat Semgat lup, Chanam Sandrok; Panthoi Leima Art and Culture Institute, Chanam Sandrok; Umanglai Sinpang Sintha Maheiroi Lup (USIL), Kangleipak; Meitei Tribe Union, Kangleipak; Kanglei Enat Yokkhatpa Lup, Nambol; Kanglei Pathou Sinths Lup, Bishnupur; Indigenous Youth Association, Lalambung Makhong; Kangla Khunthokyai Apunba Lup, Imphal; Yelhou Apunba Chanura Leima Lup, Imphal; Yelhou Iramdam Ngakpa Luplen, Kakching; Kanglei Chatna Apunba Luptin, Thoubal and Cultural Academy Manipur among others.
UKAL also cautioned of more intense forms of agitation if the Election Commission of India disregards this show of dissent and does not take up any steps to meet their demand.
UKAL also expressed hope that the State Government will bring about an amicable resolution of the issue and avoid the occurrence of any untoward incidents.
