8th KIMACS felicitation ceremony hosted

The 8th Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) felicitation ceremony for Thang-Ta subject toppers and meritorious students securing high marks in Manipuri Jagoi, Esei-Nongmai in the HSLC and HSSLC Exam 2024 was held today at KIMACS office at Palace Compound.
Dignitaries at the felicitation ceremony include Professor Paonam Gunindro Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University of Culture as the chief guest; Ningthoujam Ajitkumar, president, KIMACS as the functional president and Khundrakpam Ashinikumar, Secretary, Council of Higher Secondary Education (COHSEM) as the guest of honour.
During the ceremony, two subject toppers in the Class X Exam 2023 conducted by BOSEM, 3 subject toppers in the Class XII Exam 2023 conducted by COHSEM and eight Thang-Ta toppers in Class XII Exam 2024 were presented with simple gifts and honoured.
Additionally, one student who excelled in Esei-Nongmai (2023) and another who performed well in Manipuri Jagoi (2024) were also honoured with gifts during the felicitation ceremony.
Certificates were further distributed to fifty-five Thang-Ta instructors and gifts were presented to the 10 winners of the Leiteng Thanghai Competition 2024 .
Speaking as the chief guest, Professor Paonam Gunindro Singh said that the felicitation ceremony organised by KIMACS will provide a much-needed boost of encouragement to the students, Thang-Ta as a subject has progressed due to the State Government's patronage of the artform by including it in the curriculum of schools and colleges, he added.
He also urged school students to give attention to this indigenous artform for its future development.
Professor Paonam Gunindro advised students to refrain from solely pursuing mere bookish knowledge but couple it with Thang-Ta which will help them maintain a healthy lifestyle.
As a part of the event, Thang-Ta students presented many impressive demonstrations.
