Three of a family arrested for attack on CRPF

Imphal, September 16 2026: Security forces have two more persons, siblings, in connection with the attack on CRPF personnel at Khonghampat on September 10 .

The two brothers identified as Sheleibam Tomthin Meitei alias Tomba (27) and Sheleibam Jagatshyam Meitei alias Ibungo (35) are alleged active members of NRFM.

They are the sons of Sheleibam Yaima, who was earlier arrested in connection with the case, said the police.

The two brothers were arrested from Kongpal Kongkham Leikai, Imphal East by a combined team of Commandos and CRPF, added the police.

From their possession, the security forces seized one AK-47 Rifle with 43 live rounds of ammunition, one 9mm Pistol with 3 live rounds of ammunition, one car, an auto-rickshaw, and a scooter.

Police also alleged that the brothers were also involved in an attack on SSB personnel at Lamlong on August 22, 2026 .
