Imphal, November 04 2009: The Principal Seat of the Guwahati High Court today extended the stay order to the independent enquiry of the Manipur Human Rights Commission into the July 23 Khwairamband Bazar shooting incident that claimed the life of two people and injured five others.

On the other hand, even though respondent of the case wanted to transfer the case to Imphal Bench of the Guwahati High Court, government has expressed unwillingness to the same as some of the matter related with the case could not be opened in the public.

Th Chinglensana husband of deceased victim Th Rabina, one of the respondents of the case through a fax message to the court prayed for transfer of the case to Imphal Bench citing the inconveniences to be faced by him while appearing in the court during the hearing.

The case is related with the Manipur government's prayer to the Principal Bench of the court seeking intervention on suspension of further enquiry into the independent enquiry initiated by the MHRC on July 23 incident.

The court had earlier stayed on October 19 stayed the enquiry proceeding of the right commission till November 2.A ruling of the Justice BK Sharma today further stayed the enquiry till November 17.The hearing of the same is also scheduled on this day.

During the hearing on the stay order, the court also agreed to add one more respondent of the case, P Golmei wife of one of the injured victim of the July 23 shooting incident, Mangol Golmei.

P Golmei was one of the complainants of the case taken by the MHRC.

Manipur government represented by the Commissioner (Home), DGP and Imphal West District SP filed the case to the Principal Seat.

Advocate General N Kotishor is the government counsel.

The respondents of the case are joint secretary (MHRC), members of the MHRC and complainant Thokchom Chinglensana, husband of the dead victim of the incident Th Rabina and P Golmei wife of another injure victim of the incident.

Senior advocate L Lalit, advocate P Tomcha and M Rakesh are the counsels of the MHRC and its members, RK Rajendra and Ng Nongyai respectively.
