Apprising the BJP led coalition State Government for immediate devolution of complete powers and functions to Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi, ADC Sadar Hills Executive Member Lunthang Haokip, today, drew the attention of the State Government for early fulfilment of the people's demand.
The ADC Sadar Hills Executive Member also sought the attention of the Government, specially the Works Minister, to revamp the road stretch between Koubru Laikha and Kanglatongbi before Christmas.
Speaking to media persons at his Sapormeina residence on the sideline of distributing Led Lamp under Science and Technology Department, Lunthang Haokip, who is also the Executive Member of Science and Technology, ADC Sadar Hills, said that Deputy Chief Minister, who is also the concerned Minister of Science and Technology provided Led Lamp to the six ADCs of the State for distribution.
He conveyed that the initiative of Deputy Chief Minister is indeed laudable and will boost the relationship with the public.
Underlining the necessity of complete devolution of powers and functions to DC Kangpokpi, the Science and Technology Executive Member, ADC Sadar Hills, said that the State Government has already given full-fledged districthood status to Kangpokpi district and it is obligatory that all powers and functions of DC and SP be devolved instantly.
However, inspite of the passage of almost a year, DC Kangpokpi remains without the powers of DEO and DRDA, which is the backbone of district development and electioneering in the district, he said.
He also added that owing to the non devolution of such powers and functions the district still remain pathetic compared to other districts.
He urged the BJP led coalition Government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh to seriously consider the issue and devolve the powers and functions of DEO and DRDA apart from others to DC Kangpokpi so as to ensure faster development in accordance with other districts in the larger interest of the people.
Highlighting the extreme grievances and hardships of the people, particularly between Koubru Laikha and Kanglatongbi owing to the deplorable road condition, Lunthang Haokip sought the immediate attention of the Works Minister and appealed to give the people of the area a lively road as a Christmas Gift.
He also said that for the stretch between Koubru Laikha and Mao, renovation work has already been started by BIPL company but the road between Koubru Laikha and Kanglatongbi has been left out.
The Executive Member also reiterated his earlier demand for devolution of complete powers to ADCs and appealed the State Government to refrain from further delaying the steps which are yet to be implemented.
He also expressed his anticipation that the humble appeals and demands will be looked into at the earliest by the BJP led coalition Government in the larger interest the hill people.
