River banks, irrigation canals inspected, improvement assured

Former vice president of BJP Manipur Pradesh Thokchom Jadumani Singh along with Executive Engineer of Flood Control Division III, IFCD Manipur M Borchand Singh and its staff inspected various irrigation canals, drains, roads and river banks under 35 Khangabok AC today .
The team inspected Erong river bank on Khangabok side and the road which leads to Sangaiyumpham Kabarstan where Jadumani took the initiative to put bleaching powder to 17 ponds located under Khangabok Part III in order to prevent any water borne diseases as a result of the flood .
Speaking to media persons, Jadumani assured improvement and construction of the deplorable road and irrigation canals at the earliest, under the guidance of CM N Biren Singh .
He also assured that two portions of Wangjing river bank from Sangaiyumpham to Kabarstan (three kilometre long) and from NH 102 to Ekop Pat (eight kilometre long) on Khangabok side will be expanded and repaired from July 23 .
He stated that the land for expanding the river banks will be demarcated and the affected people will receive proper compensation and assistance from the State Government .
“The 7000 acres of rice fields in Kiyam and Louonbi wherein proper planting and cultivated of crops has been halted for a long time can be changed and the production of the crops can be boosted if Nongdambi canal, which is the most important canal in Khangabok, is cleaned and broadened”, Jadumani said .
Meanwhile, the locals of Khangabok addressed their grievances to the former vice president regarding the pathetic road condition along Wangjing-Tentha, absence of proper drain/canals in Sangaiyumfam Lairenkonjin and flood prone areas of Sangaiyumfam Part I and II due to the low lying land .
Also, the river bank on both sides of Arong river is in a deplorable condition and the river bank on Khangbok side is five feet lower as compared to Athokpam side which leads to constant flash flood whenever monsoon arrives, the locals added .
The team also inspected the sitautaion of a road which passes through Samaram village and the irrigation system of the village .
Th Jadumani lauded the Chief Minister N Biren for the swift action on the grievances of the locals.
