12 injured in mishap

Lamka, April 18 2009: Atleast 12 persons, mainly from Henglep village, were injured when a Shaktiman truck where they were travelling in met an accident at near Tuilumjang village in Thanlon sub-division yesterday at around 3 pm.

All the injured persons were admitted to the district hospital here late last night.

The Shaktiman truck was heading for the district headquarters from Henglep sub-divisional headquarters.

The timber laden truck met the accident at a place about 40 kms from here with 30 passengers on board.

Though the truck reportedly flipped for several times when it fell on a slope, none of the passengers including a seven-year-old infant, were killed or seriously hurt.

The owner of the truck was identified as Paupi of Phailian, while the driver described by a local vernacular as drunk at the time of the mishap was identified as one Jangthang.
