Imphal, January 03: In a rare and shocking case of infanticide, a six year old kid was murdered by his own father before the deranged man hung himself to death.

Moiragnthem Ibomcha (36) of Leirongthel Makha Leikai under Yairipok police station killed his infant son by stabbing him with a pointed weapon repeatedly on the head at about 2 pm yesterday.

The deceased kid was named Ibungo.

Then the mentally unsound father committed suicide by hanging himself to death.

Since the time Ibomcha started suffering from mental problems, his wife had gone to her parents with two of their children.

After his wife left him, Ibomcha was staying with a son and a daughter.

After he had killed his son, Ibomcha also tried to murder his daughter.

But the child sensing something amiss ran away from her father and escaped death.

The corpses of the father-son duo have been handed over to family members after post mortem at Lilong PHC.
