'NHP aims at improving water resources quality'

Water Resources Minister, Awangbow Newmai has stated that the National Hydrology Project (NHP) is aimed at improving the water resources quality and easy accessibility of water resources information.
He made the above statement while speaking as the chief guest at an awareness programme on 'National Hydrology Project and importance of Hydrometeorological data' held today at State Hydrological Data Centre, Lamphelpat organised by the Water Resources Department.
While asserting that water is an essential part of all living beings, he maintained that everyone knows about the importance of water but does not reflect on the causes of water crisis such as flood, droughts etc which is a matter of concern.

He went on to express that most of the water resources at present times are polluted due to changed lifestyle and high rate of chemical use as compared to olden days where the forefathers had easy access to clean and safe water.
With regards to the National Hydrology Project, he appealed to all the engineers assigned to work honestly considering the welfare of the entire population of the State.
The programme was also attended by T Ranjit, Commissioner Water Resources and Public Works Department and Songput N Albert, Chief Engineer of Water Resources Department as the presidium members.
