MGSF postpones scheduled cease work stir

Imphal, February 26 2018: After the Manipur Government Services Federation (MGSF) has decided to launch an indefinite cease work strike from February 27, the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO has set March 21 as the deadline for the State Government to come out with an official announcement for implementation of the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission with respect to State Government employees and pensioners.

On the other hand, the MGSF has postponed the scheduled cease work strike from tomorrow, after the Secretary to the Chief Minister wrote to them that the matter may be discussed with the Chief Minister on March 7 at 11 am.

MGSF however warned that if the meeting is not fruitful then they would launch the cease work strike from March 7 itself.

Speaking to media persons at their Babupara office today, JAC president Khaidem Mani said that a general council meeting held yesterday adopted a resolution towards this effect.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Biren has scheduled a meeting with representatives of the JAC at 3 pm of March 7.In view of the ongoing Class X and Class XII examinations the Government would be given some more time, till March 21.In case the Government fails to come out with an official notice for implementation of the 7th Pay by March 21, an indefinite cease work strike would be launched from the next day, Khaidem Mani said.

He also called upon all employees' associations and units affiliated to the JAC to show solidarity to the common cause.

He said that the JAC and the Chief Minister had talked three times on the issue.

JAC secretary general Laitonjam Biken said that they would dispatch a letter highlighting their demand to the Prime Minister and they would urge the Prime Minister to give an assurance publicly for implementation of the 7th Pay during his proposed visit to the State.

Saying that the JAC's proposed agitation would encompass all services including essential services, Biken remarked that there was inconsistency in the Deputy Chief Minister's statements regarding implementation of the 7th Pay and this inconsistency has perplexed all the employees.
