Najma leads in Diwali, Chakkouba greetings

Imphal, November 14 2020: Wishing the people of Manipur on the occasion of Diwali, Governor, Dr Najma Heptulla called for a resolution to celebrate Diwali in a clean and pollution free manner and wished that the festival of light brightens up lives in these gloomy and hard times of the global pandemic and usher in an era of peaceful co-existence and social harmony in society.

Chief Minister, N Biren Singh also extended his warm wishes for Diwali.

In his message, N Biren Singh said that Diwali is celebrated to mark the return of Lord Rama after completing 14 years of exile to his kingdom in Ayodhya and as the festival carried a significant message of evil being defeated by the good, all should try to eradicate evils like racism, violence and corruption from the society.

Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba also extended his warm greetings to the people of Manipur, India and abroad on the coming of Diwali, Govardhan Puja and Ningol Chakkouba.

Work Minister Th Biswajit Singh extended his warm wishes to the people of Manipur on the joyous occasion of Diwali and prayed that the festival helps in bringing the people closer and making life prosperous and happy.

Speaker Y Khemchand Singh, Social Welfare Minister O Henry, Forest and Environment Minister Awangbow Newmai, Education Minister S Rajen Singh and Consumer Affairs Minister Th Satyabrata Singh also wished the people of Manipur on the occasion of Diwali.

MLA K Robindro Singh also extended his greetings to the people on the occasion of Diwali and prayed that the festival of light brings peace, prosperity and unity to the land and people.

Communist Party of India Manipur State Council also wished the people of Manipur on Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba.

In a message CPI urged the womenfolks to accept the gifts from their brothers and not to use materialistic gifts to measure love.

It also reminded the people to follow COVID-19 SOPs all the time.

United Committee Manipur (UCM) also wished the women folk of Manipur ahead of Ningol Chakkouba.

UCM said the festival has been celebrated since the time of Nongda Lairen Pakhangba every year and now it has become a festival celebrating the beautiful bond between brothers and sisters from every community and not just a festival of a single community.

UCM also reminded the people to follow COVID-19 SOPs during the festival.

Ethno Heritage Council and Chanura Lamchinglel Kangleipak (CLK) also wished the womenfolk of Manipur ahead of Ningol Chakkouba.

CLK also said they take part in the grief of the families who have lost loved ones to COVID-19.The All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) has also extended its greetings to the people on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.

In a statement, AMUCO urged all to celebrate the day keeping in mind the true essence of the love between a brother and a sister and not reduce it to a day of materialism.

Crass materialism has eroded the true meaning of Niagol-Chakkouba, said AMUCO.

Agriculture Minister Oinam Lukhoi also conveyed warm greetings to all the people on the occasion of the Diwali.
