Assam Rifles engages in community welfare initiatives

The Assam Rifles has recently undertaken significant community engagement and infrastructure restoration projects across various villages, reinforcing its dedication to the development and well-being of the region.
Assam Rifles carried out repair and maintenance work at the Higher Secondary School in Gothal, Churachandpur district, which had been severely damaged by a recent hailstorm and heavy rains, said a statement by the Assam Rifles.
The storm, which struck on May 30, 2024, left significant destruction, damaging the school building, perimeter, and surrounding infrastructure.
Responding promptly to the community's needs, the Assam Rifles commenced repair work on May 31, 2024.The extensive restoration work included repairing the school ground using tractors and JCBs, maintaining the children's park, and fixing classrooms, office areas etc.
These efforts ensure the school is functional from June 4, 2024.In a parallel effort, on June 2 and 3, 2024, the Assam Rifles organized a drawing and painting competition in primary schools at Kovang, Wayang, and Aibol Joupi villages in Chandel district.
This initiative saw enthusiastic participation from 126 young artists, who expressed then-creativity on themes related to 'Protect Environment, Save Lives'.
The competition aimed to nurture artistic talent, promote cultural exchange, and instill environmental awareness among the youths.
Participants showcased their thoughts through a myriad of colourful and thought-provoking artworks, reflecting the rich cultural heritage and diverse traditions of the region.
By nurturing the next generation, the Assam Rifles aims to help the young individuals transform into responsible citizens, added the statement.
