Security measures ahead R-Day

Imphal, January 17 2018:
District police of Imphal East and Imphal West and conducted surprise cordon and search operations in different parts of the two districts today, as a part of the security measures ahead of the 69th Republic Day celebration.
According to a reliable source, a team of Imphal West commando conducted surprise search operation at Rupmahal Tank and some parts of Thangal Bazaar, under City police station at around 4 pm today.
During the operation, more than 80 individuals were verified by the police team.
Nine individuals who failed to produce proper identification proofs were picked up and handed over to City police station for necessary verification.
A combined team of Singjamei police and 6 Assam Rifles of Chinga Mathak post, also conducted sensitizing works along Imphal-Moreh road, from Yaiskul Hicham Yaicham Pat to Kakwa Bazaar.
The security forces used metal detectors and sniffer dogs to check for presence of any explosive materials in the road median and garbage area during the operation.
On the other hand, Imphal East district police conducted cordon and search operation at Checkon area from S.30 pm and verified around 120 individuals No one was
arrested in the said operation.
