Another college under CAU in the pipeline

Central Agriculture University (CAU) Vice Chancellor Professor M Premjit Singh has conveyed that another constituent college of the university will be established next year.
Speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Fourth Inter-Collegiate Youth Festival (2017-18) held at the auditorium of College of Agriculture (COA), CAU, Iroishemba today, the VC underscored the need to hunt for talented students in the field of culture and sports in the North East.
He also highlighted that the North East region has a rich cultural heritage and has always excelled in the field of games and sports.
The VC informed that the students, participants selected from the Fourth Inter-Collegiate Youth Festival 2017-18 will be sent to participate at the National level youth festival which will be held next month.
Highlighting the importance of organizing youth festival for the students, Professor M Premjit observed that organizing such festivals provide a platform room for every constituent colleges of the university to build National integration, facilitate exchange of ideas and knowledge apart from developing discipline among the students.
Speaking as the president, Dr CA Srinivasamurthy, Director of Research and Instruction, CAU, stated that the students must try to excel in extracurricular activities and be brave enough to take up new endeavours aside from pursuing their studies.
Maintaining that many students may have hidden talents within themselves, he said that students must try to tap their talents and nurture it so that they can benefit from it and become different and well accomplished individuals.
He also noted that institutions and the people must extend all possible support to the students and help nurture their talents.
Registrar, CAU, Imphal, Dr K Momocha, said that the university will consider providing some opportunities regarding further course of studies at the university, to those students who make their mark in the Fourth Inter-Collegiate Youth Festival 2017-18, as recognition of their achievements.

College of Fisheries, Lembucherra, Tripura bagged the overall team champion while College of Horticulture.

Sikkim, clinched overall team runners up and best cultural procession in the 3 days long intercollegiate youth festival.
L Wilson Vary of College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Jalukie, also won the award for the best literary performer.
Altogether 10 constituent colleges of CAU took part at the festival which had around 18 events including sports, culture and literary programme.
It may be mentioned that the youth festival began from January 15 .
