NPF opposes fencing in Naga areas

Imphal, October 23 2024: The Manipur State unit of NPF has opposed the proposal to fence Indo-Myanmar border areas in Naga area without correcting the traditional boundary.

In a statement, the NPF also urged the relevant authority to conduct election to the six Manipur Hill Area Autonomous District Council at the earliest time possible as per the Cabinet decision dated June 13, 2024 .

NPF/MSU appreciated the HAC (Hill Area Committee) for sending recommendation to the Government of Manipur to conduct the long pending election to the Autonomous District Council as soon as possible.

NPF/MSU strongly opposed any unconstitutional proposal which hampers the smooth functioning of administration, it said and added that delaying the election is denying the democratic rights of the grassroot people.

Restoring the local self-government through election at the earliest will deliver justice to the people, it added.
