Imphal, May 08 2009: On learning about the tragic mishap that took place at Sangrungpang last morning, troops of 11 AR launched a massive rescue operation, conveyed an AR PRO release.

A medical team led by medical officer along with three rescue teams immediately rushed to the spot but it took almost seven hours to evacuate bodies that were charred and buried under the bus.

Yet, 46 passengers were evacuated from the accident spot to Tamenglong district hospital with the assistance of local people and the civil administration, and another five were evacuated to Imphal.

Medicines, medical equipment and an ambulance were provided by the AR unit to the district hospital to facilitate further evacuation of 24 people to RIMS, added the release.
