Forum refutes Director's claim

Jiribam, October 06: Reacting on the news report published on some local dailies of September 29 edition, Peoples' Forum Nungba Kendra Nungba urged the NREGS Director to visit the spots before making comments on work progress of NREGS.

Maintaining that the Director had not visited any other districts except CCpur district, the Forum asserted that the Director's comment on non-implementation and non-issuance of medical kits and tarpaulin is baseless and unfounded.

Panchayat/village authority in consultation with job card holders, NGOs of respective villages has to chalk out their work programme, the Forum pointed out and added that the Director has no reason to dictate the work programme.

Maintaining that opening of account in the post office or bank is impossible for interior areas, the Forum also urged the Government not to force the innocent villagers to operate their accounts at a distance of 50/60 km.
